On 2/19/2022 units from Co. 1, 5, 6, 2, 7, 9 (AA) and the NDC were alerted for a house fire in the 7600blk of C St. in CB.

Chief 1 (Mills) arrived and observed fire and smoke showing from the house around the chimney area, all occupants out of the house and established command. Crews entered the structure under the direction of Chief 6A (Thrasher), designated “Operations” by Command and found fire in the walls surrounding the chimney on the first and second floors. They aggressively opened the walls in the area of the flue pipe and rapidly extinguished all fire. Crews were on scene for approximately one hour. No injuries are reported and the occupants are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The NBVFD reminds everyone to have their chimneys and flue pipes inspected annually and monitor wood stove temperatures frequently.
