Your NBVFD was busy this afternoon with multiple incidents of trees down throughout the area due to high winds and two homes struck by trees.
The most significant incident occurred at 1718 hours when crews were dispatched for a tree on a house with entrapment in the 7400blk of Dakota Avenue in Chesapeake Beach. Units arrived to find a large tree that had fallen into a single-family dwelling with the dwelling’s sole occupant and one of the pets trapped under the tree and debris of the house. The crew from Squad 1 quickly accessed the occupant and was able to extricate the occupant and the pet The occupant was transported to Capitol Regional Trauma Center by Paramedic Ambulance 219 with non-life threatening injuries. The pet was uninjured and was taken in by neighbors.
The high wind condition is expected to last until 2200 hours on February 16, with lingering gusts into Monday.
