January training continues at North Beach. On Thursday night, firefighters worked on a number of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) confidence drills.

Members did an SCBA overview of all the components and then we had a station where they followed a hose line on air blindfolded and hooked up to buddy breathing on a manikin. The second station was a victim recovery station. Members had 10 minutes to find 4 victims in various locations in the engine bay to show just how much air they use in a 10 minute span.

On Saturday morning, NBVFD partnered with the Calvert County Rescue Dive Team (Company 12) on an ice water rescue drill. Members practiced movement on ice, self-rescue methods, safe hauling, and victim extraction.
