At 0358 hours on Sunday, January 12, 2025, Engine 12, Tower 1, Brush 1, Safety 1 and Safety 1A responded for the house fire in the 4500 block of Camp Roosevelt Drive.
Safety 1A arrived first to find a two-story single-family dwelling with fire showing from multiple floors. Units from Calvert, Charles & Prince George’s County arrived to assist on a defensive operation due to the extensive amount of fire found on arrival.
Due to snow and ice present in the long driveway, fire apparatus had an extremely rough time making access to the house. Units eventually secured a nearby driveway from another neighborhood and stretched long attack lines to contain the fire to the structure.
Units stayed on scene for approximately 4.5 hours. There were no reported injuries. The homeowners were evacuated prior to FD arrival. The State Fire Marshal was requested to assist with determining the origin and cause.
The NBVFD reminds everyone to ensure emergency vehicles can access your house from the driveway. This includes removing snow and ice from the driveway, trimming back tree limbs, and having house numbers visible from the street. |
