At 1444 hours on Thursday, May 2, 2024, Calvert County Emergency Communications Center struck Area Box 111 for a report of a structure fire in the 4000blk of 4th Street in North Beach.

Co. 1 (North Beach), Co. 5 (Dunkirk), Co. 6 (Huntingtown), Anne Arundel Companies 42 and 9, Calvert Paramedic Ambulance 258, and Safety Officer 1A as the North Duty Chief.

Engine 12 arrived to find an outside fire on the rear deck, extending into the house. The crew initiated fire attack from the rear, with Engine 11 advancing a line into the house to contain any extension.

Tower 1 and Company 5’s crew provided ladders, ventilation and overhaul. Chief 5 had command. Crews were on the scene for approximately one hour.

There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical.

All residents are reminded to ensure smoke alarms are functional, discarded smoking materials are extinguished in a non-combustible container, grills are operated at least 20’ from the structure, and electrical systems are periodically inspected.
