By NBVFD
August 20, 2023

At 2140 hours, on Saturday, August 19, 2023, Calvert County Emergency Operations Center alerted the North Beach VFD, St. Leonard VFD, Anne Arundel FD, Huntingtown VFD, Calvert County EMS, Maryland DNR, and Calvert County Sheriff for a boat collision with injuries approximately 2.25 miles off Breezy Point.

NBVFD Boat 1 arrived to find two boats that had collided. Two people were injured, with one of the injured in cardiac arrest.

The crew from Boat 1, assisted by occupants of the other boats, transferred the injured to Boat 1, where CPR was continued.

Boat 1 transported both patients to Boat 1’s slip where care was transferred to Calvert County EMS, NBVFD, and HVFD providers.

One of the patients was transported to Capitol Regional Hospital by HVFD Ambulance 69 with potentially life threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the patient in cardiac arrest succumbed to injuries.

The NBVFD extends its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, and wishes the injured well for a full recovery.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is investigating the incident. Please contact MD DNR for more information.
