Your North Beach VFD has stayed extremely busy in the last 4 days. Between preparing for the winter storm, operating during it, and everything in between; the Department ran 27 calls for service since Saturday. They range from priority medical calls, multiple reported structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, carbon monoxide alarms, animal rescue, and everything in between.

Our dedicated volunteers stayed busy with keeping our lots clear from snow & ice. Our utility w/ snow plow also responded to every call during the snow storm clearing a path for our apparatus, no matter where we went.

We ran multiple chimney fires over the course of the last 4 days. As a reminder, be sure your damper is open to let the smoke escape through the chimney. If the damper is closed, smoke can quickly fill your home and block escape. Also be sure to have your chimney inspected by a certified company annually.

And just a reminder, snow shoveling is a very labor intensive activity. Take frequent breaks when shoveling, lift with your legs, and be sure you are bundled up to protect from the cold.
