At 1157 hours, Company 1 was dispatched to the 4500 block of Fish Hawk Court for a lawnmower fire. Chief 1 arrived on location, established command, and found a lawnmower on fire approximately 75 feet from a home. Brush 1 was rerouted from an extra unit brush fire call in Company 6’s area and arrived to find a lawnmower on fire that had extended to an area of dried leaves. Units returned to service around 1230 hours. Residents are reminded there is still a statewide burn ban in effect. As conditions are extremely dry, things you have done in the past may not be safe. When using a lawnmower, ensure to clean out belts and not to let leaves get near the hot motor, or park the mower over dead leaves. Do not wait, call 911 immediately if you see any brush fire occurring. |
