The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has issued a statewide burn ban, effective Friday, November 1 and continuing until further notice. Drought conditions range from severe to extreme across the state, and include Calvert County.

During the burn ban no open fires are allowed. This includes burning leaves, trash and charcoal grills. Propane grills, and fires connected to a stack or chimney are still allowed.
