We were given a great opportunity today to improve our knowledge of one of the most significant properties in the Twin Beaches, the renovated Rod n’ Reel.

Ms. Cora Jo Tozzolo and Ms. Amber Coggins took us on a tour of the extensive renovation and rebuild the property is undergoing.

Complexes of this nature are defined as “target hazards” in the fire service due to their size, complexity, and occupancy. In order for fire departments to respond effectively, national consensus standards recommend fire departments maintain pre plans on all target hazards and conduct “walk-thrus” to maintain situational awareness of their response areas.

The purpose of a “walk-thru” is to give the members insight into building layout, utility controls and chases, fire protection system components and a chance to formulate response plans. The goal is make us better prepared to handle any emergency that may occur in the building which allows us to serve you and any visitors more effectively.

Many thanks to Ms. Coggins and Tozzolo for their patience and time as we walked thru today and bombarded them with so many questions. Two additional walk-thrus are planned, one when all the drywall is up, and one just prior to occupancy.
