Water Rescue: Harbor Road

Tonight at 2203 hours, water rescue box 105 was struck for the person in the water. Chief 1, 1A, 1B, Squad 1, Ambulance 18, Boat 1 and Boat 1A all responded on the rescue. CCSO and Calvert Advanced Life Support responded as well.

1B arrived on location and established command. 1B confirmed a person was in the water and clinging onto a piling. Boat 1A’s crew utilized the throw rope bag and was able to secure the subject to the rope and pulled the citizen in distress to land safely. The citizen was transferred over to A18 and M103 to be evaluated for further treatment.

The NBVFD urges everyone to be extremely cautious around water in the wintertime. Hypothermia can develop in as little as 5 minutes. Please remember to always wear a life jacket when operating near water and to call 911 immediately to get first responders to your location quickly.
