FIRST DUE TORNADO WITH INJURIES
Friday, June 6, 2008
-
While enroute to Huntingtown to assist Co.6 with a head on collision in the middle of another bad storm in the Southern Maryland Region, The crew of E12 witnessed a tornado touch down right in front of them. The tornado struck the local restauraunt "Traders" which was occupied at the time and then continued on towards the bay injuring 7 people. Eng 12(Sgt Clark) immediately called for additional BLS and ALS units to be added. One person was thrown 60 feet onto the sidewalk and had a portion of a roof land onto him. When triage was completed one patient was taken to PG Trauma,3 to CMH via ambulance and 3 POV. This natural disaster caused heavy damage to much of the beach area causing the Beach House to run 38 additional runs throughout the day and night, which included tree into houses with reported people trapped, medicals, and the usual tree downs. The Beach House had a good showing of membership for the storm having so many members that some had nothing to ride.
